Summary - Napoleon Bonaparte was a powerful force in Europe from 1799 to 1815. He rose from the ranks of the French army to become the emperor of France. By 1812 he had control of most of Europe. Unfortunately, he met his demise when he attempted to invade Russia. His downfall was almost as swift as his rise to power

Napoleon Bonaparte was born in 1769 on the Mediterranean island of Corsica. He had come up with laws that would both strengthen the central government and achieve some of the goals of the Revolution and first wanted to to get the economy on a solid footing, by setting up and efficient method of tax collection and establishing a national banking system. Napoleon also took steps to end corruption and inefficiency in government.
